About Harmony's Rocky Farm Harmony's Rocky Farm is owned by Jim and Nola Blanks and comprises 200 acres of picturesque rolling pasture in the heart of Virginia's Piedmont. Jim was born and raised in Halifax County and has bred and raised horses his
whole life. Once enamored with Tennessee Walkers, Jim's life was changed when he
came across Joe Bango, a gorgeous Rocky Mountain Horse in the centerfold of
Horse Illustrated. Bango's color was both unusual and beautiful, and it launched Jim on a journey of exploration that captured his heart. Beyond the quick learning and smooth ride of this gaited breed, their sheer beauty, hearty constitution and sweet disposition make owning Rockies a passion. "The more I learned, the more I was astonished at the breed," Jim said. "Never have I known such a unique breed of horse." He also learned that you don't just own a Rocky, you collect them. Nola is a life-long Virginian who was introduced to horses about seven years ago. Her acclimation to daily farm life and comfort working with horses is due in large part to the friendly nature of the Rocky Mountain Horse. Together, she and Jim manage their herd with love and devotion. Jim and Nola would love to hear from you -- to answer questions, arrange a visit or just talk horses. Hope to see you on the trail, and God Bless. |
